Don't complain about winter, celebrate it!





 
The UP 200 isn't the only cool way to get the family out and celebrate winter this weekend. Put your snow shoes on or start your snowmobiles and head to Winterfest in Curtis, Mich.
Check out these fun events:

Friday, Saturday Sunday, February 14, 15, 16th
- ICE SKATING RINK ON SOUTH MANISTIQUE LAKE - All day, all three days!!!
- Chamberlin's Ole Forest Inn - Music by the JayBirds! from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm, many dinner & drink specials, plus a bonfire!!

Saturday, February 15th - 11 am to 2 pm at participating local businesses.... MAC N CHEESE COOKOFF!!

Saturday, February 15th - FIREWORKS! Special Tony Vos Memorial Fireworks over South Manistique Lake. 7:00 PM

Saturday, February 15th & Sunday, February 16th - Snow Shoeing and Cross Country Skiing brought to you by Three Lakes Academy, at Erickson Center Trails. Saturday times are 10 am to 4pm and Sunday 1pm to 4 pm. Many pairs of youth size snowshoes available to use, bring your own cross country skis.

Saturday, February 15th & Sunday, February 16th - Snowman Building and Snow Painting activity brought to you by The Erickson Center for the Arts, Outside. Hot Chocolate and Cookies too by Three Lakes Academy and Erickson Center for the Arts! Saturday times are 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday times are 1pm to 4pm

Saturday, February 15th - 7am to 7pm - Ice Fishing Contest, brought to you by the Portage Anglers Club. Call 906-586-3368 for more information.

Saturday, February 15th - Pure Curtis Craft Bazaar at Curtis Community Building on Davis Street. 10 am till 3 pm. Pure Curtis Valentine's Raffle Basket. Many local crafters with beautiful items to sell. Pop, Water and snacks available

Saturday, February 15th - PIZZA STOP - HOCKEY SHOOT FOR PIZZAS! 10 AM TO 2 PM, right beside Pizza Stop on Main Street.

Friday, Saturday & Sunday - PINE BLUFF RESORT - OPEN SWIM 10 AM TO 2 PM All 3 days! Cost is $5 per person for 1 day or buy a pass for all 3 days for $10 per person! Get your swim on!!!!

Saturday, Feb. 15th & Sunday, Feb. 16th - SENEY NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE OPEN! - Saturday the Visitor Center is open from 10 am to 4 pm. A different kid friendly wildlife or conservation movie each hour! 10 am Wolverine: "Chasing the Phantom" 10am - Guided Snowshoe 11am Magic of the Snowy Owl 12pm The Animal House, 1pm Garbage: The Revolution Starts at Home, 2pm Walking with Ghosts (Lynx), 2pm Guided Ski(meet at Robinson Road Cross-Country Ski Trails), 3pm Coyote: America's Top Dog..... On Sunday the Visitor Center will be open from 1pm to 4 pm. 1pm Wild City, 1pm Guided Ski (meeting place TBD), 2pm El Lobo, Song of the Wolf, 2:30 pm Guided Snowshoe 3pm An Original Duckumentary There will be hot chocolate, coffee and popcorn at the Visitor Center. The Refuge also has a supply of children's and adult sized snowshoes people can try free of charge. If you would like to ski, please remember to bring your own skis.

Sunday, February 16th - Lions Brunch at Curtis Community Building 8:30 am till 12 Noon.
