Celebrate your Yooperness

Tomorrow, August 10, will be the first-ever Official Yooper Day in Mattson Lower Harbor Park in Marquette. From 11 a.m.- 11 p.m., Yoopers and Wanna-be Yoopers will have the chance to "Show your U.P. Pride".
Starting with a march down to Lower Harbor at 11 a.m., this day is full of ways to participate. There will be a pasty-eating contest to determine who can eat the most pasties in 10 minutes. Sign your name on a 60 x 30 foot silhouette of the Upper Peninsula. Kids can enjoy bouncy houses, face painting and pictures with Yoopy, the official Yooper Day mascot. Chow down on a food tour of the U.P. and learn about the home-grown U.P. "suds".  Learn about U.P. history and culture through presentations. Take in some live entertainment until well into the night. Marquette Harbor Cruises will have additional cruises available from Lower Harbor. The York Cruise Ship will also arrive in Lower Harbor.
