St. Ignace is a Happening Town

For many, St. Ignace is their first impression of the U.P. And what a great first impression it can be! In addition to being a quaint (and less busy) lakeside town, St. Ignace is a happening place.
In recent years, the Visitor's Bureau, in partnership with local businesses and museums, has pulled out all the stops for summertime visitors and locals.
I've traveled all over the world and visited museums (many of the Smithsonians, the Louvre, museums in Green Bay, Chicago and Cincinnati), but a few of my favorites are in downtown St. Ignace - the Fort de Buade Indian Museum and the Museum of Ojibwa Culture. They are FASCINATING!
And this year, thanks to Kewadin Casino, museum visitors can experience History and Mystery Guided Walking Tours every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday evening during July and August.
Led by U.P. storyteller, Woodsmoke Jim, this walking tour runs along the Huron Boardwalk. All tours begin at the Museum of Ojibwa Culter (500 N State St.) at 7:00 p.m. and are FREE (although tips are appreciated). Tours last 1 1/2 hours and will run rain or shine.
Looking for something to do on Saturdays throughout the summer? St. Ignace hosts fireworks every Saturday night near the Huron Boardwalk starting at 10 p.m.
Are you in St. Ignace on a Sunday evening? Why not check out the Outdoor Movies by the Bay!
Starting this Sunday, July 7 through September American Legion Park will be transformed into a family-friendly outdoor theater. Movies begin at dusk. Throughout the summer, vistors will be treated to Madagascar 3, Wreck it Ralph, Brave, and The Avengers, just to name a few. Oh, and did I mention it is FREE?!!! There's even FREE popcorn. So pack up the kids and head out with your chairs and blankets.
