Weekend events


Relive history, root for your team and take in some fireworks. These are just a few things you and your family can do for cheap or even FREE this weekend in Northeastern Wisconsin and the U.P.

Relive history….

The National Railroad Museum in Green Bay is hosting a World War II Reenactment on July 13 &14. Take the Museum train to the battleground to watch the Axis and the Allies act out a historically accurate World War II battle. Meet an Eleanor Roosevelt re-enactor. Check out the Eisenhower Train exhibit. Adults are $9, children 4-12 are $6.50. Go to nationalrrmuseum.org for more information.

Root for your team….

De Pere residents are seeing pink all over their beautiful city this weekend. It is the Pink Flamingo Softball Tournament. This event runs from Friday, July 12- Sunday, July 14 and includes more than just bats and gloves. It includes a 5K Run on Saturday morning, a parade and FREE concerts by Annex and Big Mouth. The softball tournament, concessions and concerts will be held at Legion Park in East De Pere.

Take in some fireworks (and see some old friends along the way)…

This week is Negaunee’s Pioneer Days.

Today-  Visitors can shop the used book sale from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. at the Negaunee Senior Center. The Michigan Iron Industry Museum is offering Iron Ore Heritage Bike tours starting at the Museum. Reunions will be held for the following Negaunee High School classes- 1956, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1988, and 1993. Also a fish boil and the Pioneer Princess pageant are planned.

Tomorrow- Bingo, historical home tours, Reunions will be held for the following Negaunee High School classes- 1937, 1959, 1978, 1983, 1988.

Saturday- Cookouts, a parade at 11:30, a community picnic and fireworks at dusk over Teal Lake.
