Finn Fest

I've heard the U.P. referred to as "the land of a thousand Makis", referring to the huge Finnish population. This is only a slight exaggeration. There are many residents with last names like Laurila, Hautala, Nakkula, Toivanen and Etlamaki.  It is true that the Central U.P and Copper Country have one of the highest poplulations of Finns outside of Finland. So what better place to host FinnFest USA 2013 and truly celebrate what it means to be Finnish?

FinnFest is 30 years old this year and has grown over the years to attract up to 10,000 people from all around the world.
Hancock is playing host this year to greet visitors with "sisu" (welcome) from June 19- 23.
The $30 per day fee is well worth the price with a huge number of activities each day. Activities include courses in nordic walking and education in Finland, geneology consults, dances, accordian concerts, kantele concerts, cooking demonstrations, a youth mini language camp, films, sing alongs, a quilt raffle, a Tori market and much, much more.
Check out the FinnFest 2013 website for more information.
