You're a Grand Old Flag!

When I first moved to Appleton back in 2003, I discovered a great family-friendly event- the Appleton Flag Day Parade. For those of you who have seen the Appleton Christmas Parade, you know what a good job the city does putting on a parade.
Tomorrow, Saturday, June 8th marks the 63rd time that Appleton has put on a parade for Flag Day. This year is a special one, marking the 60th anniversary of the Korean War. Special tribute is being made to those Korean War veterans.
Over 100 units will be adorned with patriotic decor- from military units to marching bands to scout troops and more. Members of the UW Marching band will be there, as will the UW Bucky Wagon. Free American flags will be handed out about an hour before the parade starts.
What a wonderful, FREE family outing!
The parade starts at 2 pm and travels along College Ave. in downtown Appleton.
At 4:30 p.m. head over to City Park for the 5th Quarter show put on by the UW Marching Band.
Afterwards take a short drive to the Don Hawkins Baseball Field at the Appleton American Legion Post on College Ave. for a Post-Flag Day Parade Party at 5 p.m. Admission is free and food and refreshments will be served at reasonable prices.
